When you’re in Colorado, you have many choices of where to go and where to eat. Enter Longmont, about a 45-minute drive from Denver, which was named Twitter’s second happiest city in the U.S. in 2013 based on their “happy” tweets!
Lucky me, I got the chance to experience Longmont while visiting a friend and had the opportunity to visit two local eateries.
The first was Sun Rose Café for lunch and the evening hot spot was Martini’s Bistro. Generally speaking, I am not a martini drinker. I’m not really a drinker at all, especially in the extreme dry heat that was found on this particular day. However, when in Longmont, and visiting a friend, one can toast and celebrate!
The atmosphere was sweet; part of a neighborhood, this local eatery looks like another house on the block, with its white picket fence and large tree in the front yard. (The exceptions, of course, are the tables with umbrellas.)
It’s homey, laid-back, and the people are friendly and chill. The service was great and upbeat, with just the right amount of checking up on you!
On to the Martini – this is the house favorite Razz-Ma-Tazz: Absolut Raspberry Vodka, Black Raspberry Liqueur, Lemonade, and Lemon Twist.
It was a little strong initially, but once you get over the first sip, it goes down a little easier each time. By the way, this martini was shared because the ‘regular’ size would have been too much for me! So, if you like BIG glasses and more alcohol, fear not, you do not have to split your drink with anyone!
The food was delicious too!
My friend got the Nutty Chick: Macadamia-encrusted baked Red Bird All-Natural Chicken Breast finished with Raspberry Coulis and Créme Fraiche.
My friend enjoyed it and I enjoyed a small taste and it was very good!
I had The Twist: Fusili, Spinach, Kalamata Olives, Tomato, Artichoke Hearts, Avocado, and Garlic, tossed in Olive Oil and Oregano, topped with Feta. It was a good pasta salad!
The dessert, we had been building up to all day, and unfortunately, our bellies were so full from the main, we could barely nibble on this beauty!
There were 2 slices, not just one that you see above! My friend and I took our slices to go and I actually had this for breakfast the next day! YUM!
As we were finishing our lovely meal and time together, the sky was rumbling and about to open up, so we casually exited through the picket fence and rolled into our Silvercar to head out.
All in all, we had a lovely time in a beautiful outdoor setting!
Until next time, thanks for reading and Happy Travels!
