Maramboi was my first tented experience while on Safari. It was also the first time I heard animals stirring in the night, with noises that were unfamiliar. I was so scared at first, but after I learned what I was hearing, it was all good.
Maramboi tents are enormous! Built on stable platforms, this is glamping. The furniture is sparse, though adequate, as you’re most likely not spending much time in them, and out on game drives. Even so, there is a sitting area inside and out, a desk, and ample hanging and storage for your clothes. The washroom area was also spacious, and it was nice to have running water and lights.
I was situated near the end of a line of tents, a bit of a walk after meals, and also nice to be able to walk since all day I was sitting in a vehicle. However, I was not in the front-line for viewing the beautiful sunsets over Lake Manyara. I highly recommend you request to have a front-row tent!
You are closer than ever to Zebras, Warthogs, Impalas and Wildebeest, and it is quite a sight to wake up to this or even just to lounge and enjoy viewing the animals graze in the afternoon.
The dining and common areas are just as lovely, with staff quick to assist and provide whatever you need to make your stay most pleasant. The food was delicious and abundant, so you will not go hungry! Also, the food preparation for boxed lunch (while on game drives) was excellent.
I wish I stayed longer at Maramboi, two nights was not enough! And, I wish I stayed one day without a game drive, as it’s very peaceful and relaxing to just “be” with the animals. I highly recommend a stay there, even if it’s only for one night! Enjoy!
Until next time, thanks for reading and Happy Travels!
